Many of our cemeteries have extremely old maps that we use to locate lots. Some have none at all and we rely on deduction to determine grave locations to the best of our abilities. We are currently looking into the digitization of the existing maps and creation of new digital maps for those that have none. This would greatly simplify the task of our current and future directors, as well as make this information available to the public via this website. Some preliminary estimates of the cost for this project have been made as several companies do provide this service. To begin though, we are looking for interested volunteers to help match the information on the maps with the inscriptions on the gravestones. We have many bits of information such as the original purchaser of the lot, but this doesn't always concord with the inscriptions. Once this information has been collated we will be able to better make a budget for the project and perhaps embark on a fundraising drive. Spring 2024 update:

We have found an enthusiastic volunteer to take on phase 1 of our digitization project and Claremont Cemetery will be the first to get mapped out. We are using the company Cemify's software to begin this endeavour.  

Also, after having been granted by the Town of Danville a small parcel of vacant lot at the corner of Castlebar and Craig roads adjacent to our Castlebar Cemetery, leveling work is almost complete. Thanks to Lionel Noble and Ian Perkins for looking after this.
